At JNJ Botanicals, we are committed to protecting our planet and the well-being of its inhabitants. As such, we are dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of our products and processes.
We integrate eco-friendly practices into our regular operations that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We understand that our actions may seem small, but we believe that they can lead to significant change.
We are always looking for ways to make a positive impact, and we believe that everyone has the power to make a difference, no matter their size. Through our efforts, we hope to inspire others to join us in creating a more sustainable future.
Here’s how we contribute to six of the UN’s seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
3. Good Health and Wellbeing
- Our products are made with natural ingredients to reduce the number of chemicals that can end up on the skin and be absorbed into the body through the skin.
- All ingredients that are or are suspected of being endocrine disrupting and/or carcinogenic are excluded from our product line.
Our products are made with the intention of being gentle, nourishing, and soothing to the skin, leaving it feeling healthy and rejuvenated. - We avoid artificial colours, fragrances, and chemicals that may be irritating to the skin in our products. Plant oils, butters, herbs, spices, flowers, and clays are used to create gentle and beneficial products that suit sensitive and irritated skin.
- The products are also fragranced with pure essential oils that have therapeutic properties for both the mind and body.
6. Clean Water and Sanitation
- The ingredients used in JNJ Botanicals Products do not negatively impact the quality of the groundwater, either during the production process or during use.
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
- JNJ Botanicals’ products are multifunctional, eliminating consumers’ need to purchase multiple products, thereby reducing resource use and waste.
- We produce in small batches to reduce surplus and waste.
- We adopt a circular economy approach to waste reduction through reuse and recycling, including educating consumers about repurposing packaging.
13. Climate Action
- Our system of reducing waste, reusing packaging, using natural plant-based ingredients and using renewable electricity can help reduce air pollution, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the fight against climate change.
- In addition, taking simple steps to save energy, such as turning off lights and devices when they are not in use, scheduling delivery days and combining delivery trips to help reduce fuel emissions can also help to reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment.
14. Life Below Water
- We at JNJ Botanicals understand that plastic pollution is a major environmental issue in Nigeria, particularly in our oceans. To address this problem, we prioritize reusing plastics whenever possible. This is a significant reduction in plastic waste, and it is important for us to continue finding ways to minimize our impact on the environment.
15. Life on Land
- Our plant-powered brand means that our products are not based on the harm of helpless animals and are therefore better for Mother Earth.
- We use plant ingredients that are sustainably and responsibly sourced and have no negative impact on natural habitats, local communities, or wildlife. This helps to support producers who grow crops and produce oils in environmentally responsible ways. When making purchasing decisions, we believe it is critical to consider the entire supply chain, and we are committed to supporting environmentally and socially responsible practices.
- Our product packaging is made of recyclable plastic. Furthermore, we have upcycling practices that we share with our customers in order to reduce plastic waste that ends up in nature.
